Asteroid Emplacements and Astromines for TAWIS
----------------------------------------------

The humble asteroid, a very tough piece of rock when you think about it. Which makes it the pefect place for heavy emplacements. A normal artifical asteroid is quite cheap, and useful as a blockade or as illusionary cover for other emplacements. Rapier cannons, torpedo launchers or blaster cannons can be embeded in one of these asteroids as it is built. The weaponry hides away when not in use, using holographic projectors to cover the openings which its uses (which is why it appears to move through the rock on the asteroid). Built-in radar scramling equipment will ensure that these emplacements are not detected until they start shooting. When used intelligently, paranoia can be used as an effective weapon, slowing the enemy down while he blasts every single asteroid into tiny pieces.
Also available are astromines. These are large devices embeded into the asteroid during construction, and capable of mass destruction when the circumstances are right. Two varities have evolved - the anti-fighter variant and the ACS variant. AF astromines have a very large area of effect, with little drop off in damage, but are very weak. A single AF astromine can only cripple most fighters, not destroy them. Two or three can be used in conjunction with each other, and when positioned correctly, can obliterate any fighter force travelling through them. ACS astromines are huge bombs, but must be VERY close to be effective. Their damage potential is massive, but this potential drops off rapidly with distance. When mixed with AF astromines, they can be devistatingly effective. All astromines have built in radar scramblers.
