Total Annihilation: Twilight strives to make all units worth using and expand and reward strategic gameplay while still retaining the original TA feel.

Just a few quick notes on installation of Total Annihilation: Twilight:

Start with a fresh install of Total Annihilation.

Then install Core Contingency, if you have it.

Then install the 3.1c (Non-boneyards) patch.

The TAMEC 2004 file (tamechpi2004.ccx) is included in the v1.6 release, but if needed, it can also be downloaded here:
http://twilight.tauniverse.com/files/tamechpi2004.zip
and put in your TOTALA directory.
NOTE: TA:T will *NOT* work without this file.
NOTE: You will only need to download the TAMEC the one time, and can simply download new updates to TAT after that.

Then unzip the TA:T zip file and put the rev31.gp3 file in your TOTALA directory (Rename the existing rev31.gp3 file if you want to keep it, otherwise replace it).

Finally, delete the "gamedata" and "ai" sub-directories in your TOTALA directory if they exist (Or back them up, if you prefer), and then copy over the ones included in the TA:T zip file. Do *not* just copy the TA:T ones over the top of your existing ones, as this can leave old files that will interfere with things.

That should be it!

Don't forget to read the included changelogs to see what has changed in this and previous versions, or browse through the HTML Unit Guide to see the different attributes of various units. Just unzip the included Unit Guide zip file, and open the index.html file in the web browser of your choosing.

Not required, but highly recommended, are the TA Demo Recorder, AA and AAII map packs, as well as the Nuggenman Map pack, and the TA:T map pack. Ask on the forums for details (The TA Demo Recorder and patch for it, along with a rundown on how to install it and use it are included in this release in the file called TADR(0.99_installer_and_1.0_patch).zip).

If you have a dual (or more) core PC and are experiencing crashing when alt-tabbing out of TA, reference the following solutions from TA:T community members:

ALT-TAB CRASHING
Vladimir says:
oh, and by the way: this "crash when alt-tabbing" thing is indeed an affinity problem.
Vladimir says:
I set the affinity to one core using this tool: http://robpol86.com/pages/imagecfg.php. It doesn't crash anymore.
Vladimir says:
get the imagecfg tool here: http://www.robpol86.com/pages/imagecfg.php
Vladimir says:
use it to set your TA's affinity to 1 core: "imagecfg.exe -a 0x1 totala.exe"

Weiss says:
press ctyl+alt+del right click you totala.exe and then clicking set affinity
Weiss says:
uncheck cpu 1
Vladimir says:
Weiss's solution works too, but you'll need to do it every time you start TA.
