=== 2. Installation ===

- Extract All the files from Install_Talon.exe to your desired TotalA
  Directory.

- Run the game by clicking Talon.exe instead of TotalA.exe.

- Although Talon will not conflict with other third-party material, it
is recommended that you do not put too much junk in the Talon
  folder.

=== 3. System Requirements ===

- You must be running Windows XP or higher (see instructions below if
you have Windows 98 or Windows 95).

- You must have Total Annihilation Installed.

- You DO NOT need the 3.1 patch, Core Contingency expansion, or Battle
  Tactics Installed.

=== 4. FAQ ===

=== 4.1. Unit Mechanics ===

Q: How do I use the Stargate (Astria Porta)?
A: To use the Stargate, there must be at least two Stargates on the map.
You must connect one Stargate to another by clicking the "Dial"
button and then clicking near the receiving Stargate. Then you may
move any unit you wish to sent through the Stargate near the
connecting Stargate. This unit will then be teleported
   instantaneously to the receiving gate.

Q: Why does the Exp Vehicle Lab's groundplate cover only half of the
   building?
A: This is necessary to allow players to select the unit being built in
   the lab.

Q: How do I upgrade my Talon commander?
A: To upgrade your commander, you must first build a upgrade module with
an adv construction unit; then you must build the desired upgrade
from the upgrade module. Each upgrade module can only build 1
upgrade. If you cancel the construction of the upgrade, that module
becomes useless, for it cannot build any more upgrades.

Q: What is so special about infantry? Why would you use them?
A: Infantry serve as excellent spotters for long-range units due to
their expendable nature. Vermins are the only effective way to
destroy walled HLTs, and supported Apostles can be very devastating
to enemy defenses. Moreover, you can load as much infantry as the
unit limit allows onto a troop transport, allowing you to run over
the enemy with your massive hordes in surprise invasions. The
overkill nature of enemy weapons vs. infantry health also makes them
   very economical cannon fodders.

Q: Why can't I pick up enemy units with the "Kidnapster" Dropship?
A: It is to prevent commander napping.

Q: How does the emergency teleport upgrade work?
A: After building the emergency teleport upgrade, clicking "Load" while
the upgrade module is selected will teleport your commander to the
   location of the upgrade module.

Q: How do shields work?
A: Shields absorb all the damage of a weapon when it is active; however,
it deactivates for a split second everytime it is hit. This makes
shields excellent against slow-firing high-damage weapons but makes
   them vulnerable against rapid-fire weapons.

Q: Why won't the enemy's "Whinstone" Medium Tanks die?
A: The Whinstone is designed to be invulnerable to rapid-fire weapons.
Try to avoid concentrating fire on the Whinstone and maximize the
   interval between firing.

Q: Where are the kbots for Talon?
A: Kbot (Kinetic Bio-Organic Technology) is a technology developed
by the Arm and Core after the Talon's exodus. However, the Talon was
able to duplicate the kbot technology in the form of "Talos"
Experimental Siege Kbot. Talon infantry also wear powered armour.

Q: Why can't the "Vermin" Reconnaissance Infantry, the "Echo" Stealth
Ship, and the "Harpoon" Kamikaze Sub cloak while moving?
A: Because they were made that way

Q: Why doesn't the "Zenith" Command Ship build on its own?
A: You need to assist the construction of the Zenith with construction
   units.

Q: Why doesn't the "Thor's Hammer" Orbital Bombardment Cannon fire?
A: Because you don't have enough energy to fire it. You need at least
100,000 energy in storage before the cannon can fire. You may achieve
this level of energy storage by building energy storage buildings.

Q: Why won't my units shoot the "Apostle" Psychic Infantry/"Siren"
   Psychic Control Tower?
A: Because these units mind controlled your units into not firing at
them. You can kill them with splash damage by attacking the ground
   near them.

Q: Why doesn't the "Corsair" Troop Transport load?
A: You need to land the Corsair for it to load. Also, make sure that it
   is toggled to "load" mode.

Q: Why can't I disable Arm and Core fusions with spies?
A: Because the Arm and Core have developed more advanced power grids
that prevent this sort of attack during their 5000-year war. Their
spy technology is also much more advanced.

Q: I have balancing suggestions; where do I post them?
A: Contact us and inform us of your concern. Detailed contact
   information listed below.

=== 4.2. Technical Troubleshooting ===

Q: How do I install Talon?
A: To install Talon, run the self-extracting executable found in the zip
archieve and extract the self-extracting exe in your TA directory.
play Talon by running Talon.exe instead of Totala.exe.

Q: Why does Talon crash?
A: There is a number of things that causes Talon, and TA to crash:
   - Too many .hpi files. make sure there is only 1 .hpi file in your
Talon directory by renaming them and changing their extension to
     ".ufo" or ".ccx".
   - Extra folders in your folders in your TA directory. to ensure that
Talon doesn't crash at all, remove all extra folders from your
     Talon directory.
   - Files from older versions of Talon. Remove them. See the list above
     for the current version's files.
   - You and running Windows 98 or Windows 95, see question below for
     the solution to this problem.

Q: How can I play Talon on Windows 98 and Windows 95?
A: By Installing Xon's TA Demo Recorder. For more information, go to
   this thread: http://www.tauniverse.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35116.

Q: How do I play Talon in windowed mode?
A: To play Talon in windowed mode, create a shortcut to Talon.exe (right
click Talon.exe, and click "Create Shortcut"); right click on the
newly-created shortcut and click "Properties"; go to the "Source"
text box and append "-d" to the end of the existing text; click the
shortcut to run Talon.exe in windowed mode.

Q: Can I add other third-party units to Talon?
A: You can try, but it won't work. Talon is designed to not cause
conflicts with other third-party material. You may still add units to
the TA version you run from Totala.exe.

Q: Do I need to run Conflict Crusher for Talon?
A: No, you do not. Talon will likely make Conflict Crusher Crash.

Q: How do I play third-party maps with Talon?
A: It is like playing third-party maps with normal TA; simple put the
map file (.hpi, .ufo, or .ccx file) into the Talon directory.

Q: I tried to load a saved game but it crashed.
A: TA saved games never trustworthy. Try to finish your game in one go
rather than saving and loading. You can minimize TA by pressing the
   Tab key while holding Alt.

Q: How do I change my unit limit?
A: The Talon default unit limit is set to 500 per player; however, you
can change this by opening totalTAL.ini with notepad and change the
line "UnitLimit = 500;" to "UnitLimit = 1500;" or whatever unit limit
you want. Note that the maximum unit limit supported by Talon is
1500, and that playing with a high unit limit may cause performance
   issues with TA.

Q: How do I play multiplayer Talon?
A: To play multiplayer Talon, you and your opponent must have the exact
same version of Talon, and your unit limits must be exactly the same
(for how to configure your unit limit, see question above). To start
a multiplayer game, one of the players must host a game by clicking
multiplayer from the main menu and choose the "DirectPLay TCP/IP"
option; leave the TCP address box empty to search and create a game.
The other players must go through the same steps except they have
enter your IP address into their TCP address boxes (you may find your
IP address by going to http://whatismyip.org/). If you playing over a
LAN, then all players may leave their TCP address boxes blank. If you
cannot connect with another player because you are behind a router,
you may have to use a program like Hamachi (http://www.hamachi.cc/)
to simulate a LAN. For more questions regarding multiplayer TA, read
   this thread: http://www.tauniverse.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27309.

Q: I still have technical issues; what do I do?
A: Contact us and inform us of your concern. Detailed contact
   information listed below.

=== 4.3. Misc. Questions ===

Q: What is the story behind Talon?
A: The Talon is race of genetically engineered and cybernetically
enhanced super solders created by the Core Empire millennia ago as
mindless enforcers of order. A strange alien power source allowed the
Talon to gain sentience and rebel against the Core Empire. Although
they were eventually defeated by the Core, the Talon were able to
escape extermination via the same alien device. For over eight
thousand years, the Talon bidded their time in exile, waiting to
strike back at their ancient enemies.

Q: Can you include unit "x" in Talon?
A: You can post requests on our forums:
   http://www.tauniverse.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=149, or you can
   e-mail me at TheRegisteredOne@Gmail.com.

Q: Is mod "x" better than Talon?
A: That is a lie. No mod is better than Talon >:).
