Every classic Total Annihilation map editor works the same way — you don’t paint terrain tile by tile, you place map sections: ready-made pieces of landscape with their heights baked in. A hill. A stretch of coast. A river bend. You drop them onto a flat world and move them around until the map looks right. Cavedog shipped a handful of these worlds with their 1998 Map & Mission Editor; the community built hundreds more over the following years — and scattered them across dead download links and self-extracting installers that modern Windows no longer opens.
We collected all of it and put it back together:
- 25,465 sections in 182 worlds — hills, cliffs, coasts, rivers, fords, walls, roads, seaforts, whole mountain ranges
- The official Cavedog worlds (Moon, Green, Lava, Mars, Metal, Acid,
Crystal, Slate, Urban, Water…) from the 1998 Map Section downloads and
worlds.hpion the Core Contingency CD - Community world packs: C_A_P’s mixed tilesets, the TADS / UTAS / TS series, Evergreen, Zhon, Creon, Taros/Veruna, Desert Moon, Siberia, Military Base and many more
- Every pack repacked into clean archives with exactly the internal layout
Mappy, Annihilator and TAE expect (
sections\World\Category\*.sct) — each one byte-verified against its source before shipping - A browsable catalogue with rendered previews of every world and category

Grab a world, drop the file into a dedicated folder, add that folder as a search path in Mappy — and start building.
