Until now the editor generated four start positions on export and you had to live with them. The new Starts tool puts you in control of where players spawn — up to the ten start positions Total Annihilation supports.
- Click to place the next start (1 → 10), drag to move one, right-click or Delete to remove it. The numbered markers stay visible on the map and the minimap while you work.
- Auto-spread distributes 2–10 starts for you: always on dry ground (a start in water turns red and warns — the game would spawn players into the sea), pushed apart so players begin far from each other.
- The
.otaexport writes exactly your start positions — converted to game pixels with the same rule verified on 2,205 original mission files. Place nothing and the editor falls back to its old behaviour (four starts on the driest ground of each quadrant). - Start positions are part of the saved layout, so they survive reloads and Save layout / Load layout.
Open the workbench at Map Editor — same as always, everything runs locally in your browser.
