A fix note with a real impact on downloaded files. If you downloaded map packs, section packs or unit archives from this site before September 30, 2026, they may not work in the game — and the fix is simply to download them again.
What was wrong. Every game-loadable TA archive ends with a 93-byte signature footer (the “HPIPack by Joe D” stamp from the original modding tools). Our archive writer omitted it — and the game silently rejects such files: the map simply never shows up in the in-game list, with no error message. Proven single-variable: a byte-identical rewrite of the same map without the footer fails to list; with the footer, the same map loads.
What we did. Every self-built archive we ship — over 1,200 files across maps, section packs and unit downloads — was repacked content-preserving (each member byte-identical, roundtrip-verified) and stamped with the footer on September 30. Original Cavedog and community archives always carried the footer and were never affected.
What you should do. If a map or section pack you downloaded here doesn’t appear in the game’s map list at all, re-download it from the current site:
- Maps — the map zips
- Map Section Packs — the
.hpiworld packs - Units & Mods — unit archives and packs
Sorry for the detour — and thanks to everyone who reported maps that “just didn’t show up”.
