The map section libraries now come with their own workbench: the new
Map Editor (Web-Mappy) runs the classic section-based
editing workflow entirely in the browser — pick a tileset world, snap
ready-made terrain pieces (hills, coasts, rivers, cliffs) onto a flat base,
and export a playable .tnt + .ota pair.
- 25,447 terrain sections in 182 worlds are available in the editor, served as per-world bundles with their original tile graphics and heights (downloaded when you pick a world, then cached).
- Seam-fit hints: every palette piece shows how its height contours match the pieces already placed — fits means the seam is within 3 height units, no fit means a visible cliff.
- The flat base renders with the world’s own ground tile and auto-snaps to the tileset’s standard flat height; a live minimap preview shows the map as the game will see it.
- Export writes the terrain file and a mission header with four start positions on dry ground — drop both into your TA directory and play.
- Layouts save as a small
.webmappy.jsonso you can finish a map later.
Not yet in the editor: feature placement (trees, rocks, metal) and random scatter — the terrain workbench comes first. Sections © Cavedog Entertainment and the community tileset authors, see the Map Section Packs page for credits.
